Brian Escobar (he/him) is a Peruvian-American activist from Central New York. He became a socialist in the wake of participating in the Occupy Movement. He joined DSA during the summer of 2016 after supporting Bernie Sanders’ first presidential run and being elected as a delegate for Sanders to the DNC. He was a founding member of Syracuse DSA and currently serves on the chapter’s Steering Committee as chapter co-chair. He is a former staff organizer with the Syracuse Peace Council and has served on the coordinating committees of Syracuse for Sanders and the Central New York Solidarity Coalition. He believes in the necessity of a transformative mass movement for socialism that develops a strategy for our present and future situation.
